The race will start and finish at:
Jefferson County Fair Grounds. 430 SW Fairgrounds Rd, Madras, OR 97741
The first half of the race is a gradual downhill, with the second half a gradual uphill climb. The course’s first mile takes you through the west side of Madras, Oregon on paved roads to the paved trail up the “M” hill. The climb is a short, but a good one (100 foot gain for .2 miles). Around the two-mile mark, you hit the dirt trail into Willow Canyon. The trail is a combination of single track and gravel road. There are a few foot bridges to cross and navigation over some tricky rocks. It is important to watch your footing on this course, because there are several hazards typical to trail running. Due to the time of year, weather may also be a factor. Please be prepared for ice, snow, rain and mud. This race is not a road race.
All runners are warned and responsible for their own safety.
Several aid stations are positioned throughout the course to provide water and Gatorade to runners. Volunteers will leaving the course at 1 pm, giving runners three hours to complete the race. Runners are welcome to continue after 1pm, but please be advised that the course will be open to traffic.
